Taunton is a bustling, forward-looking town with excellent amenities, a good selection of independent and high street shops, distinctive restaurants, cafes and attractions, and a wealth of history, all whilst being surrounded by picturesque countryside.

The medieval village of Dunster is within Exmoor National Park and offers a wealth of listed buildings and boutique shops. Visit The National Trust Dunster Castle, Dunster Yarn Market, Dunster Tithe Barn and you can see why it’s a popular destination for visitors.

Minehead offers the perfect destination for a family seaside holiday.  It boasts a wonderful long flat sandy beach, a charming harbour, a bustling town with Independent shops and cafes and heritage attractions.

Tropiquaria is on the site of the former BBC radio transmitter station originally built in 1933. It now houses a Reptile Hall, Nocturnal House and Aquarium. Outside are 4 acres of animal enclosures, along with two life sized pirate ships, and an adventure castle.

The spectacular Wimbleball Lake, nestled amongst the rolling hills of Exmoor National Park, a great location for a day out. There is a wide range of activities for all ages at the lake.

Travel over 20 miles of heritage railway through stunning somerset countryside and coast. Have a nostalgic ride, discover the railways industrial heritage or attend one of the many events run by West Somerset Railway.

Steart Marshes is the first of WWT's working wetlands. It provides flood defence for local homes and businesses, showcases productive farmland and is home to a thriving nature reserve. The project proves we can fight climate change by working with nature.

County Classics Motor Museum

Welcome to Britain’s newest Motor Museum! This unique and brilliant concept, with an excellent café and gift shop, aims to reverse the decline of the town centre in Taunton, Somerset’s historic county town.

The focus is on cars and motorcycles from our youth – from the 1950s to the 1990s – though exhibits range from 1915 to the early 2000s.

Cleeve Abbey

At Cleeve Abbey you’ll find the most complete and unaltered set of monastic cloister buildings in England, standing roofed and two storeys high. Visit, and you can explore the gatehouse, the refectory with its glorious angel roof, and an unusual ‘painted chamber’.

Cleeve’s greatest glory is the magnificent, tiled floor of its earliest refectory, dating from around 1270. 

Fyne Court

A National Trust hidden gem in the heart of the Quantock Hills, with a walled garden, folly and arboretum. There is a café which serves hot drinks, homemade cakes, light lunches and more. You can also explore the surrounding meadows and Five Pond Wood.
