OUR STORY

Welcome to Escape to the Country – Two Unique Holiday Stays in Somerset

Family-run for two generations, Escape to the Country offers two distinct holiday experiences, the charming Cider Cottage and wheelchair accessible Redlands.  Both are nestled at the foot of the stunning Quantock Hills in rural Somerset.

🌿 Cider Cottage – A Cosy Countryside Retreat

Cider Cottage is a well-established, detached holiday home ideal for romantic getaways, peaceful escapes, or outdoor adventures. Whether you want to relax in the garden and sauna, explore the nearby Quantock Hills and Exmoor National Park, or visit local villages and attractions, it’s the perfect base to unwind or roam.

♿ Redlands – Accessible Holidays with Comfort and Care

Redlands has been thoughtfully designed for guests with limited mobility. Born from our own family experiences, we understand that accessible travel needs vary. We’re always happy to answer questions, adapt the space to suit your needs, and help make your stay as enjoyable and stress-free as possible.

As your hosts, we live on site and are always available for assistance — but we also value your privacy and will leave you to enjoy your holiday at your own pace.

We look forward to welcoming you to this beautiful corner of Somerset.

What can you expect?

Each property has been thoughtfully furnished and equipped to ensure you can relax and enjoy your holiday from the moment you arrive.

Your time away is precious and we want you to be able to switch off and be surrounded by the

peaceful countryside and all that nature offers.

Cider Cottage

An open plan layout provides a relaxed and social space. Patio doors lead outside to the pretty cottage garden where you can enjoy the late summer sun and alfresco dining.

Wander over the small meandering stream to enjoy a lazy summer day in the garden or visit one of the many nearby attractions and eating establishments.

Redlands

Redlands allows for an ideal mix of accessible practicality, comfort and escapism.

It has various accessible downstairs living areas, which makes the house great for all to gather whilst still providing plenty of room for more solitary moments.

Relax on the window seat and read a book or in the colder months settle on the sofa next to the cosy wood burning stove.

Multiple outdoor seating spots provide the perfect backdrop for great outdoor dining or a BBQ.

When the sun sets the conservatory allows for all to enjoy the evening sky whilst staying warm and dry.
